Semi-Permanent Brow Service
Semi-permanent brows involve the deposition of pigment in the epidermis layer of the skin. This is the top superficial layer that is made up of epithelial cells which regularly sheds and regenerates; hence, it is not permanent.
All efforts and precautions will be taken to ensure the microblading/ shading procedure is as pain-free as possible. An external topical anesthetic cream will be applied prior to the procedure along with an internal anesthetic cream throughout the procedure to relieve pain and swelling. You may experience a minimal amount of pain/ discomfort during the procedure but the anesthetics applied is expected to help numb the skin to minimize pain. Some report no pain at all. Pain may vary based on tolerance and other factors. Swelling may also be experienced but is expected to subside. It also depends on your pain tolerance, everyone is different! We can take small breaks if need be and apply numbing cream for longer periods of time. The most important thing is to communicate how you are feeling with me and I’ll try to be as accommodating as possible!
The healing process is typically 7-10 days. Every individual varies, but most only notice a minimal amount of redness and most clients will be able to continue with their usual activities. Upon the initial appointment, your brows will appear significantly darker and will heal approximately 40% lighter.
Immediately after your microblading procedure and in the first 7-10 days, your brows will appear significantly darker and defined than your desired look. This is completely normal, and It may continue to get darker over the next few days as scabs begin to form, however, this is not an accurate indication of the finished and healed result. 30-50% of your brow color will fade as the scabs fall off within 7-10 days. In some cases, the scabs may take longer to heal and fall off. DO NOT PICK YOUR SCABS. The pigment is within the scab, and you do not want to pull any pigment out of your skin prematurely. We all heal differently and what works for one client may not be effective on another so please do not compare your results. The complete healing process takes approximately six weeks however most people find the healing is sufficient to allow you to attend social events within one week.
Face shape, facial symmetry an brow mapping will be taken into consideration to find the best-suited brow shape. There will be a consultation and a drawing will be done on the brow area prior to undergoing a semi-permanent service. Approval will be given before doing anything semi-permanent.
Assuming the necessary touch-up session has taken place 4-6 weeks after the first session, the pigment will typically begin to fade at the 18-month mark. However, it varies on skintype, maintenance and other factors. Please ask me if you would like more information!
The appointment, consultation and the procedure inclusively, takes approximately 2.5 hours but may also vary.
For starters, a detailed after-procedure care instructions will be sent to you upon the completion of your treatment. At the end of your appointment, I will go through all the instructions in-depth and provide you with the opportunity to ask me any questions. Should you have any additional questions or concerns at a later time, please don’t hesitate to contact me via e-mail, call or text and I’ll reply at my earliest convenience.
It is extremely important to adhere to the aftercare procedures in order to achieve the best possible results and retention from the brow procedure. It will take 7-10 days to fully heal. They will be itchy, flaky and WILL scab. This is to be expected and a normal part of the body’s healing process. Brows must remain completely DRY until every scab has fallen off.
Continue aftercare protocols until there is no more scabbing.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I would recommend planning the appointment date around any big events for at least 10 days as the healing process may not be pretty- but the after results will be worth it! The healing process is a little unpredictable but please keep in mind that your eyebrows during your healing process is not a true reflection of the final results! Please be patient and mindful of this and do not freak out!
If you do not want your new brow to fade, it is highly advised to come in for a touch-up session 4-6 weeks after initial appointment. Sometimes, your skin will reject the colour or it won’t stick. Thus, you can loose up to 40% of its colour which is completely normal! Correction of the shape and/ or design is highly recommended.
This will be accessed on a case-by-case basis. Prices posted reflect virgin brows only; work done coming from another technician (correctional/ cover-up work) are subject to its own set price. Please send me a picture of your brows and I will provide you a quote at this time and let you know if you are a suitable candidate for this service.
Most will experience no side effects; however, it is common to experience some swelling, redness and minor bleeding at the site of the application but should not be a cause for concern. Swelling should subside within the first couple days. A gel ice pack may be applied to the area. Bruising is rare but can occur.
Things happen, I get it. I kindly ask that you give me at least 48 hours notice so I may be able to book someone else at that time slot. Rescheduling may be done through the scheduling app to select a different day.
A colour will be chosen together by performing a patch test. Small amounts of varying coloured pigments on your forehead and select the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. As a rule that is wise to follow, your brow colour should closely match your natural brow hair along with your natural hair colour unless you plan on up-keeping a specific colour.
If unsure, it’s better to go lighter than darker. We can go darker at the touch-up appointment but we can’t go lighter if you feel like the colour is too dark.
